SOS SAHEL’s virtual Africa Days were launched on May 25, World Africa Day and ran through June 17, World Day to Combat Desertification. This innovative, online platform exists to build bridges between local actors in the field, regional and governmental institutions, technical and financial partners, businesses in the private sector and research institutions.

As with the traditional Africa Days celebration, this virtual event will consist of workshops, panel discussions, culinary discoveries and, of course music.

The COVID-19 pandemic and its multiple side effects are further weakening the economy of Sahelian countries. It also reveals that the SOS SAHEL model defends a vision of development – based on reasoned management of territories, partner networks and social inclusiveness – capable of developing local potential, building on the changes underway and responding to current crises.

The number of questions shared during the forum shows the interest in the subjects discussed. During the Africa Days events, we saw an interest in sustainability issues across the board – from pastoralism to agriculturalism to climate change. These crucial questions go beyond a single forum.
